Goal: To revamp jenkins.io website's Success Stories feature to update both tooling and UI/UX experience with new design.
Status: Selected
The Jenkins "Success Stories" portal (stories.jenkins.io) is a vital resource for showcasing the real-world impact of Jenkins and fostering community growth. However, the current platform requires a comprehensive modernization to maintain technical relevance, visual appeal, and operational efficiency. This project proposes a full-scale overhaul of the jenkins-infra/stories repository, focusing on tech-stack modernization and a reimagined user experience.
The primary technical objective involves upgrading the platform to the latest version of React and updating its dependency ecosystem to ensure long-term maintainability and security. Beyond the architectural core, the project will deliver a complete UI/UX redesign, including a modernized landing page, individual story views, and an interactive geospatial map visualization of global Jenkins implementations.
Crucially, the project will address existing bottlenecks in the story submission workflow, redesigning the process to make it more intuitive for users and easier for the Jenkins Infrastructure team to manage. By prioritizing accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and performance optimization, this initiative will transform the Success Stories platform into a high-performance, engaging showcase that effectively highlights the global success of the Jenkins project.
The Jenkins project thrives on its community and the diverse ways it is utilized across industries. The Success Stories portal serves as the primary "social proof" for the ecosystem, yet its current technical and visual state creates friction for both contributors and visitors. Modernizing this platform is essential to ensure that the narrative of Jenkins’ success remains as innovative as the tool itself. By upgrading the tech stack, we can ensure that the platform remains maintainable and secure for years to come. The UI/UX redesign will enhance user engagement, making it easier for visitors to discover and share stories, while the improved submission workflow will encourage more contributions from the community. This project is not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a sustainable, scalable platform that can grow with the Jenkins ecosystem and continue to inspire users worldwide.
